Lumineers

Transformative effects without invasive preparation

Lumineers are custom-designed, ultra-thin veneers designed to look exactly like natural teeth. Unlike traditional veneers there is no preparation necessary because the veneers are so thin. Lumineers create beautiful, radiant and natural smiles. In just two sessions you could have the perfect smile, without permanent changes to your tooth enamel.

Who can benefit from Lumineers?

Lumineers are a versatile treatment and can be used to address a host of common flaws in a smile, including:

  • Chipped teeth
  • Discoloured or stained teeth
  • Spaces between the teeth
  • Misshapen teeth

Lumineer treatment process

The first stage of treatment is to create an impression of the teeth, which will be used by technicians to create your custom-made veneers. You will also be asked to choose the shade of your veneers, with a wide range of shades available to suit individual preferences – these range from natural tooth colour to bright white.

The second stage of treatment is the placement of the veneers. This is a painless, quick and simple process. Before the veneers are fixed onto the teeth using sturdy adhesive, we will check that you are happy with the shade and fit of the veneers. The veneers will then be attached to the surface of the natural teeth.

Does the procedure hurt?

There is very little tooth preparation needed before the lumineers are placed over the teeth, and there is no need for anaesthetic or pain relief during treatment.

How long does Lumineer treatment take?

It can take anywhere between one to three weeks for the entire treatment to be completed. An initial consultation will be needed to assess the teeth. An impression is made of the teeth so the lumineers can be made exact to each individual patient’s teeth. During the second appointment the veneers will be put onto the teeth using a special light and adjusted so that they fit perfectly and look natural.

Advantages of Lumineers

Lumineers are an incredible treatment as they can literally transform a person’s smile in just two sessions. Lumineers are designed to create beautiful, natural smiles that boost confidence and help you to look and feel great. The veneers have the benefit of being thin and do not require a large degree of preparation work – this means that tooth structure is left intact and the treatment is reversible.

Disadvantages of Lumineers

Patients who want lumineers need to have healthy teeth, gums and fillings. If this is not the case other treatment such as porcelain crowns may be needed instead. Oral hygiene must also be satisfactory so that gums do not recede away from the veneers and lessen the overall look. Bleeding gums can also cause problems and discolouration.
